"She fell into despair, lost in the darkness of the woods. As morning broke she awakened,
Guided by the smell of dew on moss and the chirping of birds in the air. Rising to kneel in the filtering, dappled sunlight, she heard a cluck of wood against wood
And her heart leapt to her throat.
'Move no nearer,' a strange, thickly-accented voice said softly to her right. Despite the order, she turned and stared into eyes green as
Forest foliage. His face was gaunt, body lean and wavering as if the shadows and sunlight fought over
His keen flesh. His hair was brown and held a vaguely-russet shade to it. His eyes were clear and stern.
'Move no nearer,' he ordered again, though hesitantly. She gazed into the shaft that he held and past it.
They hung together in pregnant silence, with nothing but the woods to guide their actions, this
Mortal woman, lost to her Felaysian kingdom, and
Her would-be murderer, of the
Seelie and the Fair."
- Myerex C. Costrana, Seelie scribe esq. "Ballad of Tirthuen and Neviah.", (C) 1543, a.d.

"Come by the hills to the land
where fancy is free.
And stand where the peaks meet the sky
and the rocks reach the sea.
Where the rivers run clear and the bracken
is gold in the sun.
And cares of tomorrow must wait
till this day is done.

Come by the hills to the land
where life is a song
And sing while the birds fill the air
with their joy all day long.
Where the trees sway in time, and even
the wind sings in tune.
And cares of tomorrow must wait
till this day is done.

Come by the hills to the land
where legend remains
Where stories of old stir the heart
and may yet come again.
Where the past has been lost and the future
is still to be won.
And cares of tomorrow must wait
till this day is done.

Come by the hills to the land
where fancy is free.
And stand where the peaks meet the sky
and the rocks reach the sea.
Where the rivers run clear and the bracken
is gold in the sun.
And cares of tomorrow must wait
till this day is done.
And cares of tomorrow must wait
till this day is done..."
- Loreena McKennitt, "Come By the Hills".

Then you must write it down and put it somewhere so I can read it!

( I thought "Seelie" was a strange term to be used in the 1500s because the Sidhe court system didn't start getting literature until the Victorian era. ) Must read. Yep.
:iconyourpleasantdarkness:
|] -chuckles- maybe I will. I have tons of Seelie writing in my gallery if you'd ever like to have a peek.
(You're not wrong, of course. I've reworked the Seelie and Unseelie alike in my stories...some might call it slaughtering folklore, but ah well. Way my Seelie / Unseelie work is that after the First Great War, in which they battle humans for dominion over Avalon, the Seelie lose their wild charms and naked wood dances in exchange for two separate Courts, over which reside Vivienne, queen of the Seelie and Lady of the Lake, and Mab, Queen of the Unseelie and Underdark. I'd go on from there, but be rambling at you. :'x sorry for the random rant.)

I think it's positively fascinating. Something I actually know something about, too. ;)
